Frank Ikegwuonu is a Nigerian publisher, filmmaker, cultural diplomat, creative-industries strategist and media entrepreneur whose professional journey spans more than two decades across Nollywood, film and television, publishing, entertainment, awards, research, media development and international cultural exchange.

FROM NOLLYWOOD TO INSTITUTION-BUILDING
Ikegwuonu’s institutional journey dates back to 2003 through its formal institutional development in 2005 when he established what became known as the Nollywood Excellence and Leadership Awards, while developing documentation and recognition platforms including Who’s Who in Nigeria Entertainment, Who’s Who in Nollywood and the Nollywood Encyclopedia. These initiatives were dedicated to recognising outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s rapidly developing film and entertainment industries while creating a record of the personalities shaping the sector.

Among his notable entertainment initiatives is Queen of Nollywood, and Miss Nigeria Entertainment a reality television and talent-development concept created to celebrate Nigerian women, entertainment talent and the wider Nollywood ecosystem.
The Queen of Nollywood project has received support from successive Executive Governors during their respective tenures, including the Governors of Cross River State, Benue State, Bauchi State and Imo State.

Between 2020 and 2024, The Nelas Academy Awards became an annual celebration in London, United Kingdom, bringing together prominent personalities, mayors, business leaders, creative professionals and celebrities. The London editions provided an international platform for recognizing outstanding achievements while promoting arts, media, culture, creativity and cross-cultural engagement.
THE NELAS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
Ikegwuonu is also associated with the development of The Nelas International Film Festival, an initiative designed to provide a platform for filmmakers, screenwriters, actors, producers and other creative professionals to showcase their work, exchange ideas and participate in international film culture.

On 2 June 2006, the Honourable Frank Nweke Jr., then Minister of Information and National Orientation of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, issued an official written ministerial commendation concerning Frank Ikegwuonu’s publication, Who’s Who in Nigeria Entertainment.
