Started in 2003 through its formal institutional development in 2005, Nelas has built a remarkable history of events and initiatives spanning Nigeria, Germany and the United Kingdom, creating opportunities for artists, filmmakers, entertainers, cultural ambassadors, entrepreneurs and emerging talents to be recognised on international platforms.
Nelas Academy Awards — Since 2003
The Nelas Academy Awards stands among the Academy’s flagship initiatives, honouring individuals whose exceptional achievements, creativity, leadership, humanitarian service and contributions to society deserve recognition.
From Nigeria to Europe, the Awards have provided a platform for celebrating outstanding personalities while strengthening the relationship between African excellence and the international creative community.
Over the years, the Awards have recognised remarkable personalities across film, television, music, fashion, culture, entrepreneurship, humanitarian service and leadership, establishing Nelas as a platform where achievement meets recognition.
Queen of Nollywood Reality TV Show — Since 2006/2007
Since 2006/2007, the Queen of Nollywood Reality TV Show has provided a distinctive platform for discovering, developing and showcasing female talent within Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
With activities extending across Nigeria, Germany and the United Kingdom, the project combines entertainment, personality development, cultural representation and international exposure.
It has become part of the Nelas vision of giving emerging talents an opportunity to move beyond the spotlight and into meaningful careers within the creative industries.
Unveiling the Who’s Who of the Nigerian Entertainment Industry
Nelas has also played a unique role in documenting and celebrating the personalities who have shaped Nigeria’s entertainment landscape.
Through its “Who’s Who in the Nigerian Entertainment Industry” initiative, Nelas has brought attention to established stars, industry pioneers, creative entrepreneurs and emerging personalities whose work continues to influence Nigerian popular culture.
It is more than a list of names—it is a celebration of the people, stories and achievements behind Nigeria’s entertainment revolution.
Film Premieres — Nigeria & United Kingdom
Film has always been central to the Nelas story.
Through film premieres and special screenings in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, Nelas has provided filmmakers and producers with opportunities to present their works to audiences, industry professionals, media organisations and cultural communities.
These events have helped create bridges between Nigerian cinema and international audiences while celebrating the creativity and stories emerging from Africa.
The Nelas International Film Festival
The Nelas International Film Festival represents another important chapter in the Academy’s journey.
With editions and activities in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, the festival brings together filmmakers, actors, producers, screenwriters, film enthusiasts and creative professionals to celebrate cinema from Nigeria, Africa and around the world.
