THE NELAS ACADEMY CONGRATULATES CHIEF ABELA EMUEBIE OGELE EZE IHIENKAEGHO (ODOGWU AGUNABOR) ON HIS NOMINATION FOR THE NELAS ACADEMY AWARDS 2026 AND INCLUSION AMONG THE “50 MOST INSPIRATIONAL & HUMANITARIAN PEOPLE 2026”
LAGOS, NIGERIA — 4 SEPTEMBER 2026
The President and Governing Council of The Nelas Academy of Arts, Media and Television warmly congratulate Chief Abela Emuebie (Ogele Eze Ihienkaegho) (Odogwu Agunabor), President-General of Anioma Watch Association, on his nomination to receive the prestigious The Nelas Academy Awards 2026 and his selection among the “50 Most Inspirational & Humanitarian People 2026.”
The recognition forms part of The Nelas Academy’s continuing commitment to identifying, documenting and honouring individuals whose leadership, humanitarian service, cultural contribution and commitment to society represent inspiring examples of positive impact.
RECOGNITION OF LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE.
Chief Abela Emuebie has been nominated for The Nelas Academy Awards 2026 in recognition of his emerging leadership of Anioma Watch Association and his commitment to community development, cultural preservation, social responsibility and the advancement of the welfare of the Anioma people.
His leadership represents an important combination of community advocacy and practical humanitarian action.
Particularly noteworthy are the community-based initiatives undertaken through Anioma Watch, including interventions directed toward maternal and child welfare, through which essential care packages and support have been provided to expectant mothers across Anioma communities.
These efforts demonstrate a philosophy of leadership that goes beyond representation and advocacy to embrace direct service to communities and vulnerable members of society.
The Nelas Academy committee considers such initiatives worthy of recognition because sustainable development begins with people, and leadership becomes meaningful when it produces measurable benefits for communities.
CULTURAL PRESERVATION AND ANIOMA IDENTITY
Chief Abela’s recognition also reflects his commitment to the preservation and promotion of Anioma history, culture, traditions and collective identity.
As President-General of Anioma Watch Association, he has placed cultural documentation, unity and the preservation of Anioma heritage among the important objectives of his leadership.
The Nelas Academy believes that cultural heritage is an essential component of national development and international cultural diplomacy. Individuals who dedicate themselves to preserving indigenous history and traditions while promoting unity and development therefore make an important contribution not only to their immediate communities but to the wider cultural heritage of Nigeria.
WHY CHIEF ABELA EMUEBIE IS AMONG THE “50 MOST INSPIRATIONAL & HUMANITARIAN PEOPLE 2026”
Chief Abela Emuebie’s inclusion among the 50 Most Inspirational & Humanitarian People 2026 reflects the broader philosophy of the publication.
The 50 individuals selected represent people whose work, leadership, service, humanitarian interventions, professional achievements, cultural contributions or commitment to improving society provide examples of inspiration and positive human impact.
Chief Abela was selected because his public-service trajectory demonstrates several of these qualities:
1. Community Leadership
His leadership of Anioma Watch provides a platform for community representation, unity and development.
2. Humanitarian Commitment
His involvement in initiatives supporting expectant mothers and families demonstrates a practical commitment to social welfare.
3. Cultural Preservation
His advocacy for Anioma history, identity, traditions and cultural heritage contributes to the preservation of indigenous Nigerian culture.
4. Service-Oriented Leadership
His approach demonstrates the principle that leadership should be measured not simply by position, but by service and the ability to create positive outcomes for people.
5. Diaspora and International Cultural Engagement
His involvement in Nigerian cultural initiatives in Germany reflects an interest in connecting Nigerian communities, cultural heritage and international audiences.
6. Inspiration to Future Generations
His combination of professional, cultural and community-development activities provides an example of how contemporary African leaders can use their skills and platforms for broader social benefit.
For these reasons, The Nelas Academy committee considers Chief Abela’s inclusion among the 50 honourees to be recognition of service, leadership, cultural responsibility and humanitarian values rather than simply an award for status or position.
50 PEOPLE — ONE MESSAGE OF HUMANITY
Chief Abela Emuebie will join 49 other distinguished individuals selected for the 50 Most Inspirational & Humanitarian People 2026 recognition.
Together, the 50 honourees represent a central message of the initiative: that positive change can emerge from different professions, communities, cultures and countries when individuals choose to use their influence, talents and resources in the service of humanity.

Chief Abela Emuebie, alongside the other 49 selected personalities, is scheduled to receive his The Nelas Academy Awards 2026 recognition and official induction certificate during the forthcoming:
