Ciara Princess Harris is an American singer, songwriter, dancer and entertainer who emerged as one of the important figures in contemporary R&B and popular dance music. Her debut album, Goodies, established her internationally with hits including “Goodies,” “1, 2 Step” and “Oh.” Her career has been characterized by the integration of music, choreography and visual performance, making dance an essential component of her artistic identity. She later expanded her work across music, fashion, acting and entrepreneurship. Ciara won a Grammy for Best Short Form Music Video for her collaboration on Missy Elliott’s “Lose Control” and has received multiple Grammy nominations. Her influence is particularly important in understanding the relationship between Black female music artists, choreography, fashion and contemporary visual entertainment.

The Nelas 100 Great Women of Color 1975–2025 is an international research and documentation project of the Nelas Academy which is an emerging international media, arts and cultural research institution created to celebrate and preserve the contributions of Black and African women in creative arts, entertainment, music, film, modelling, poetry, fashion, pageantry and cultural presentation.
